Rubgy player breaks neck during game

RACQ CareFlight Rescue was tasked to Miles to airlift a 22 year old male who had broken his neck while playing rugby union.

The patient is from the Gold Coast but his team were playing a team at Miles when the accident happened.

The patient has been tackled awkwardly and sustained a serious injury to his neck.

He had intermittent feeling in his hands but is lucky in that he has full feeling in his legs.

The medical crew estimated that if his break was just 2cm wider he could have been a paraplegic.

He was airlifted to the PA Hospital in a stable condition.
